The Story Behind the Album

Back in 1996 (yes, in the previous millenium) I had the fortune of hooking up with music innovator, Thomas Dolby, and getting a gig working at Headspace, the company that he co-founded along with Mary Coller. At the time that I got on board there were only three of us working there: Thomas Dolby, Paul Sebastien, and myself (with Mary still spending much time in Los Angeles).

In the beginning, my official job was to create Headspace's first ever Web site. Over time, my role at the company evolved, and before too long I was playing an integral role in the design of the company's interactive audio authoring platform for the Web: the Music Object API.

During my years of working for Headspace, Inc. (later to change name to Beatnik, Inc.) I had the privilege of working with and being influenced by a bunch of really talented programmers and musicians. The songs on this album were all written during those years and were recorded in my personal project studio (which was based in San Mateo, California at the time).
